About this data
- These are reports, not proven crimes. The log lists what was reported to UAPD and other campus security authorities. It also includes non-criminal entries such as found property, collisions and assists to other agencies. A change in the number of reports can reflect reporting or policing, not only how much crime happened.
- Counts use the date reported. The time-of-day chart uses the offense date and time. Offenses logged at exactly midnight are left out of that chart, because the log often uses midnight when the real time is unknown.
- Categories are this project's grouping. UAPD's own labels are shown in the table. UAPD changed its labeling format around July and August 2026 (for example, "LARCENY/ALL OTHERS" became "Larceny"), so labels are grouped into broad categories to keep trends comparable. An entry that lists several offenses is counted once, under the first category it matches.
- Recent days are incomplete. UAPD updates the log within two business days of a report, and may hold back an entry while it could jeopardize an investigation.
- Entries change. Dispositions are updated as cases close. Each day's changes are kept in changes.csv. Location type and date cleared come from each case's own page and are filled in gradually. UAPD spells location types several ways, so they are grouped here; the table shows UAPD's own wording.
